چکیده
Abstract Indonesia is located between three significant plate confluences that play a role in creating subduction zone. Sumatra, one of Indonesia’s provinces, near the collision Eurasian Plate, Indo-Australian and Pacific Plate. The Semangko Fault, Mentawai Islands, chain non-volcanic forearc islands, active faults induce earthquakes landslides are all produced by zones on Sumatra Island. receiver function approach was developed to identify discontinuity limits Earth’s structures, such as crust mantle, from teleseismic events. information this study comes 25 temporal 1 permanent station West time period 2007 2009 IRIS data station. earthquake taken components seismic stations using criteria arc distances 30° 90° magnitudes ranging 6.0 10.0. This research aims determine how crustal thickness distributed what effect regional geological structure has thickness. According early results study, estimated range region 27.11–32.48 km, Vp/Vs ratio values 1.70–2.19. direction thickening area likewise East-South.

the crustal structure beneath the northwest of the zagros (kermanshah region) from teleseismic receiver functions
in this study, we used teleseismic data which was recorded by 5 stations (dhr, ghg, kom, lin and vis) of the kermanshah seismic network from 2003 to 2007 with mb?5.5 and epicentral distances from 30° to 95°. the crustal structure beneath these stations was determined by the modeling of the p receiver functions. the main phases, which were observed in our final p receiver functions, are moho con...

[1] We utilize seismic converted phases on more than 700 receiver functions calculated for 42 stations in the South Island, New Zealand, to infer crustal and uppermost mantle structure. We determine the crustal thickness from direct observations of conversion from the Moho interface and infer zone of the maximum thickness being located along the axis of the Southern Alps, just east from the Alp...
متن کاملModeling Crustal Structure through the Use of Converted Phases in Teleseismic Body-wave Forms by L. J. Burdick and Charles
By comparing records of the radial component of motion of teleseismic P waves to records of the vertical component, it is possible to identify S phases within the P wave form. These phases are generated by the mechanism of P to S conversion at discontinuities in velocity under the receiving station. Similar phases of the S to P converted type appear as precursors to the direct SV arrival. Model...
متن کاملCrustal Structure of the Tibetan Plateau and Its Surroundings from Receiver Function Studies
The Tibetan Plateau is the highest and largest plateau in the world, generated by the collision of India and Eurasia. Details of this continent-continent collision and the uplift mechanism of the plateau are still hotly debated. In this study, I collected a large amount of seismic waveform data recorded by more than 300 stations in Tibet and its northern neighbor Tien Shan. I processed the data...
متن کاملCrustal structure and deformation of the SE Tibetan plateau revealed by receiver function data
We analyze a large amount of receiver function data recorded by regional seismic networks of the China Earthquake Administration to estimate crustal structure and deformation beneath the southeast margin of the Tibetan plateau and its surrounding areas. We develop a comprehensive analysis method that facilitates robust extraction of azimuthal seismic anisotropy from receiver function data. The ...
